Helen Moat was born in Northern Ireland and spent her childhood travelling the length and breadth of the island in her Dad’s Morris Minor – or so it felt: she still suffers from wanderlust.
Helen studied German in England, living in Switzerland and Germany at times. The author of Slow Travel The Peak District, published by Bradt, she is constantly inspired by landscapes and cultures across the world.
A keen walker and cyclist, she’s happiest when outdoors and on the move. She loves to travel slowly, engaging all the senses.
In recent years, she’s walked Wainwright’s Coast to Coast and cycled cross-continent from Rotterdam to Istanbul. As a travel and fiction writer, she’s constantly on the hunt for a good story. The Peak District and beyond gives her plenty of material.
